You have to choose

You have to choose

“But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:14

I’m a proud grandparent! Recently we’ve had the opportunity to have Olivia and Jack spend a few nights, allowing us to enjoy those precious moments we would otherwise miss, such as reading them a story, tucking them into bed, and seeing their bright smiles in the morning as they welcome a new day.

I know that being a grandparent makes me old, which I hope makes me a bit wiser. One thing I know for sure that it makes me is concerned, concerned about the future. Not my future, but theirs! I really don’t like some of the changes that have come about so remarkably fast in our society.

There are many things I could choose to talk about regarding what’s changed, not the least of which would be America shameful debt, to the tune of 13+ trillion dollars. But as bad as that is, there is something far more damaging, and that is the moral breakdown of God’s rules about sexuality, marriage and family.

While it’s true that this breakdown in our society, historically, is not new, the speed with which it has happened is tragically unprecedented. Think about this. In less than a generation, homosexuality has gone from being almost universally condemned, to being almost fully normalized.

We are facing a true moral inversion — a system of moral understandings turned completely upside down. Homosexuality, very recently was condemned by our society. Today, it is considered a sin to believe that homosexuality is wrong in any way. WOW!

A new sexual morality has replaced the old. The new moral authorities have one central demand for Bible believing Christians: get with the new program on human sexuality.

But we mustn’t give in and give up. For if we do – as history has aptly proven – the future of your children, and our grandchildren is in peril.

The Bible’s sexual morality is grounded in the creation of humanity in God’s image. We are created as male and female and given the gift of sex within the marriage covenant — and only within the marriage covenant between one man and one woman for as long they both shall live.

Any attempt at a liberal interpretation of that is patently ridiculous!

So you might as well decide now which side you’re going to take on this issue, Will you march in lockstep with the Lemmings off society’s cliff, or will you stand up for the truth. For the sake of Olivia and Jack, I hope it’s the latter!
